March 31, 2014

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has formally published a proposal that would require all interstate truck drivers to use electronic logging devices.

The FMCSA said that it will accept public comment on the proposed rule until May 27. The agency also stated that its proposal will eliminate driver harrasment and diminish paperwork burdens. The mandate to equip trucks with e-log devices would take effect two years after the agency issues its final rule.
